Worried about a child?
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
If you have a concern about a child or family and are unsure what to do, please contact school and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or one of our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. We will listen, take your concern seriously and help decide what should happen next.
If you believe a child may be at risk of harm, you can contact Solihull Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, known as MASH, directly on 0121 788 4300. Out of hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, call 0121 605 6060. |
At Woodlands Infant School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We want every child to feel safe, happy, listened to and cared for.
Safeguarding means protecting children from harm, supporting their wellbeing and making sure they grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. This includes children’s safety in school, at home, in the community and online.
Our approach is built on strong relationships. Staff know children well, listen carefully and act promptly when there are concerns. We work closely with parents, carers and other professionals so that children and families receive the right support at the right time.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If you are worried about a child or family, please speak to us. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong. It is always better to share a concern than to stay silent.

Prevent: protecting children from radicalisation
Prevent forms part of our safeguarding responsibilities and aims to stop people from becoming involved in or supporting terrorism.
At Woodlands, our approach is appropriate to our pupils’ ages. Through positive relationships, our curriculum and school values, we develop kindness, respect for different faiths and beliefs and a strong sense of belonging. Pupils learn to share worries with trusted adults.
We recognise that young children may encounter harmful messages through adults, older children or online content. Staff are trained to recognise and report concerns to our DSL team.
If you are concerned about something your child has seen, heard or said, please speak to us. Further advice for families is available from Educate Against Hate and ACT Early.
